We always considers Birkenstock sandals the “cats” of the footwear world, meaning they have nine lives. Founded in 1774 by Johann Birkenstock, they always seem to reinvent themselves time and time again. If you’re wondering if they’re back on trend, the answer is a resounding yes. Part of what’s considered the “ugly trend” we actually still really like them and don’t think they’re ugly at all. There are currently more styles and options for women, men, and even kids (along with tweens and teens) that have all helped to make these a wardrobe staple over the past couple of years.
