WHO'S BEHIND GIFTSICLE

Giftsicle.com first launched in May 2017 with a little financial help from our parent company (phew!).  Here, we focus on what we love the most when it comes to shopping; gifting!  What we feel like is one of the most under-rated difficult tasks is finding the perfect gift for that perfect someone on your list.  We’re here to help!

We’ve created hundreds of different gift guides that are perfect for those special folks you’re looking to gift like your mom, dad, kids, teacher, nurse, co-worker – you name it!  Every single gift idea that’s been added to Giftsicle has been chosen by and written by a human.  Yep, only editorially created content will be found here (more on this in a minute).

WHY TRUST OUR CHOICES

There are so many different recommendation sites out there and we have to admit, they’re all pretty great.  Some, we even had a hand in creating, writing for, and marketing online.

In our opinion, the only thing really missing is a site thats dedicated to strictly gifting.  So, we decided to focus on a wide variety of gift guides that are all inclusive, along with with our favorite gifting retailers that may be having some really decent sales on some of the perfect presents of the season.

Every. Single.  Gift.  We. Recommend.  We. Have. Chosen. Ourselves.

Research, testing, obsession, and subjectivity is the name of the game.  Look.  We love gifting and not just because we’re paid to do it.  Many of the gifts we recommend are gifts we’ve either gifted someone or received ourselves.  Some things we’re totally just obsessed with and want to share it with anyone who will listen.  Each and every gift we choose and add to any one of our guides comes directly from us and we write each description, overview, and review of each and every product.

Now, in the spirit of full disclosure if there’s an area we’re not an expert in, we will research the heck out of the product to see if it really is worth it.  This can be from unbiased third party reviews, customer reviews on retailers like Amazon, Walmart, Target, Nordstrom (etc) and what we find buzzing on a variety of social media platforms.  It’s a great way for you to sift through a variety of well thought-out and curated ideas without having to do all the research and reviewing yourself.

Some websites out there (no shade) use automated product feeds to just populate their pages with product recommendations, never really knowing if they’re any good or not.  While that can help you a bit, we feel like it’s more beneficial to have an actual person (us!) choose the gift idea and actually write about it so you can understand what it’s all about, what some of the bells and whistles are, and what the price point is.  And we’re pretty obsessed with digging up sale prices and deals too, so you may find some of our favorite sales around the site from time to time!

We are a small and nimble team, but we’re happy to showcase the latest and greatest products that we’ve found online and really enjoy ourselves.

OUR AFFILIATE RELATIONSHIPS

It’s super important to know that we keep the lights on around here by revenue that we make from affiliate partnerships. Basically what that means is that on some of the products we link to, we may earn a commission from the retailer if you make a purchase on their website.  It’s kind of like a “finders fee” that we get from the retailer and not from you.

Some of these affiliate partnerships include third-parties like Amazon.com and through Skimlinks.   The good news is that you pay nothing and this doesn’t impact your price at all. It’s also really important to note that we stand by each gift/product we recommend and will also include products from retailers that do not pay us at all.

Patrick Ryan Varone / Founder + Sr. Editor

I started Giftsicle back in 2017 after creating gift guides for some of the top content sites online – even had a hand in creating BestProducts.com.  I decided to create a one-stop destination for all things gift related – from the traditional types of gift guides (for your wife, husband, kids) to guides that are for all the dorks out there, like me, who love pop culture moments like Schitt’s Creek, The Golden Girls, Friends – you name it).

I hope you find the gifts that we chose to be ones that put a smile on your face and your loved ones (or frenemies).  We (myself included) choose everything by hand and stand behind all the products that make it into our gift guides.  Sometimes we get it wrong and will end up removing them – hey we’re not perfect!

If you have a gift you received (or bought) you love and want to let me know, feel free to drop me a line.  All my contact info is above (email, Facebook, Instagram, and even LinkedIn).  Happy gifting!

Jennifer R. Belanger / Senior Editor of Gifting & Party Planning

Why hello!  I’m Jennifer, the Senior Editor here at Giftsicle where I tackle some of my favorite subjects – gifting, gift etiquette, and some pretty fun party planning.  A mom of three teens (ugh) and an editor since 2015, I consider myself an expert on picking out some of the coolest and most sought after gifts for just about any event or holiday coming up.

Since 2015, I’ve contributed gifting content on brands like Trendsicle.com, Brostrick, Jenraly, and The Wine Down Report (I’m a big fan of wine too!).  You can find some of my articles picked up from publishers like Yahoo!, MSN, and even Buzzfeed (many years ago!).

In addition to gift guides, I pride myself on helping to answer all those gifting etiquette questions that pop-up throughout the year (like what do you do if the invitation says “no gifts required”), coming up with really thoughtful messages you can add to any of your greeting cards, and fun ways to plan a variety of parties and events for all ages.

Outside of “work” I enjoy going to the gym, having a glass or two of wine, reading (when I actually have time), staying active, being a wife, and a mom to three pretty amazing kids – who all plays sports (we’re a hockey family).

Feel free to drop me a line if you have any questions about a gift I’m recommending or just want to vent your frustration in general (don’t worry, I sift though plenty of those kind of emails too). If you’re a PR friend and want to send me a product or gift to check out and potentially cover, this is the best way to go about that.   Email me here!
